Pedro Delgado of Spain posted his second Tour of Spain cycling victory today, 35 seconds ahead of rival Fabio Parra of Colombia.

Delgado, winner of last year’s Tour of France and the 1985 Spanish “Vuelta,” collected $17,400 in prize money for winning the grueling 22-day race. Another Colombian, Oscar Vargas, finished third.

Delgado, one of the favorites among the 189 riders who started the race on April 24 in the northwestern port city of La Coruna, took control in the 16th leg, wresting the leader’s yellow jersey from Colombian Martin Farfan.
