A benefit concert Sunday night for the Orange Coast Interfaith Shelter for the Homeless in Costa Mesa drew about 45 people and raised $226 for the group, a spokesman said Monday. Local rock bands Surrender Dorothy, the Withdrawal and Just Population played at St. Mark Church in Newport Beach.

Portfolio ‘89, the annual Huntington Beach arts benefit sponsored by the Arts Associates, the Allied Arts Board and the Arts and Cultural Affairs Department of the city’s Community Services Department, will be Saturday at the Huntington Beach Civic Center, 2000 Main St. More than 100 works of art, including paintings, prints, ceramics, sculpture and stained glass, have been donated for the 7 p.m. drawing and auction. The event begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails and a buffet supper.

Art patron tickets are $100 per couple and entitle each pair of holders to one free work of art, chosen at the drawing. Art donor tickets are $25 per person. All attendees may participate in the auction, which also includes non-art items. The art objects may be previewed through Friday at the Huntington Beach Center Library, 7111 Talbert St. For more information, call Roxanne Nickel at (714) 847-4750 or the Arts Associates at (714) 842-9185.
