At the Bush Administration’s request, the House voted to delay implementation of new ethics regulations passed last October that have triggered at least 32 abrupt resignations from the top levels of the Defense Department, NASA, the Internal Revenue Service and the Federal Aviation Administration, the Washington Post reported. The President was expected to sign the delaying measure, which was passed by the Senate on Friday. The new law contains strong provisions prohibiting federal contracting officials from jumping from one side of the bargaining table to the other, and bars former federal employees from revealing useful information about competitors’ bids.
