“Family Ties” went out on top, and NBC stayed on top for a record-setting 47th week in a row, ratings from the A.C. Nielsen Co. showed Tuesday. The final episode of “Family Ties” on Sunday night was the most-watched program of the week, attracting viewers in about 18.8 million homes. NBC, meanwhile, extended its string of first-place finishes in the weekly ratings competition to 47, passing the previous mark set by CBS in 1962-63. The full list of ratings is on Page 10.

* When the fictitious producer on Sunday night’s “Moonlighting” talked about the romance being over, he wasn’t kidding. The once beloved series bowed out on an ignominious note, attracting an audience of only about 5.1 million homes--1 in 10 of those watching TV at the time.
