Chanting, placard-waving Stanford University students demanded a bigger campus role for minorities as they surrounded the office of President Donald Kennedy for the second time in 24 hours. Kennedy was not in his office, and there were no arrests during the noisy demonstration on the tree-shaded campus. The 250 Students of Color Coalition demonstrators carried signs that said: “We Want to Talk With Don, Not the Riot Police” and “We Want Just One Asian American History Professor!” They dispersed after two hours. On Monday, 56 students were arrested for occupying Kennedy’s office.
