CIA Director William H. Webster said that Argentina is helping Algeria’s nuclear development program and has entered discussions on similar arrangements with Egypt, Iran and Saudi Arabia. Argentina is an emerging nuclear supplier to the Third World as more and more developing countries seek to acquire nuclear weapons capability, Webster said. He noted that none of Argentina’s nuclear facilities is under international safeguards to prevent proliferation. Webster testified at a hearing held by the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee.
