Michael Watson knocked out Nigel Benn at 1:34 of the sixth round at London to take Benn’s Commonwealth middleweight boxing title.
Watson, the underdog despite being ranked third to Benn’s fourth by the World Boxing Council, tagged Benn with a right to the eye in the middle of the sixth round.
Benn (22-1-1), whose victories all came on knockouts, turned away as if to complain about the punch but was ordered to box on, and walked straight into a left jab, which put him down.
