General Manager Pat Gillick of the Toronto Blue Jays met for three hours with former New York Yankee manager Lou Piniella, then extended his deadline for naming a new manager to two weeks.
“We’re not getting the short list down,” Gillick said. “We’re going up.”
Gillick fired Jimy Williams as manager last Monday and made Cito Gaston interim manager. At the time, he said a replacement would be appointed in a week to 10 days.
