Mitzi Shore, owner of the Comedy Store and Comedy Channel Inc., has filed suit against Home Box Office in U.S. District Court for trademark infringement. The suit alleges that HBO appropriated the name and trademark “The Comedy Channel,” of which Shore says she had exclusive ownership, having used it since 1982. The Comedy Channel Inc. produces, markets and distributes comedy videocassettes such as the Ollie Joe Prater Comedy Video and “The Girls of the Comedy Store,” said Shore’s attorney, James Blancarte.
