Puente, Anguiano to Fight at Irvine
Greg Puente, a former California super featherweight champion, will fight Hugh Anguiano of Los Angeles tonight in the main event of the monthly boxing program at the Irvine Marriott.
Puente (8-3) of El Monte hasn’t boxed in 18 months because he has been working full time and hasn’t had time to train properly. Anguiano (13-5) also is a former state super featherweight champion.
Georgie Garcia (24-4) of Santa Ana will end a two-year layoff from boxing in an eight-round featherweight bout against Joe Orawe of Nigeria.
In another eight-rounder, Richard Aguirre (12-2) of Los Angeles takes on Daryl Colquitt (7-4) of Los Angeles in a super welterweight semi-main event.
The first of six bouts starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale in the grand ballroom of the hotel at 10 today.
