Kossuth Wins Speedway Scratch Main Race

Louis Kossuth of Brea won the four-lap scratch main event Friday night in front of 3,617 in the weekly speedway program at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa.

It was the first victory in a scratch main race at Costa Mesa for Kussoth.

Alan Christian of Murrieta was second, Brad Oxley of San Clemente third and Shawn McConnell of Brea fourth.

Mike Faria of Riverside won the eight-lap handicap main event. Christian was second, Jim Sisemore of Simi Valley was third and Steve Lucero of Riverside finished fourth.

Brian Pappalardo defeated John Griffits in the best two out of three match race. Mike Buff of Torrance won the second-division scratch main event.
