A delegation from the Organization of American States left Panama after four days of talks aimed at finding a solution to the nation’s political crisis. The delegates indicated they would ask that another OAS mission travel to Panama soon for more discussions with strongman Manuel A. Noriega and the forces trying to oust him. Ecuador’s foreign minister, Diego Cordovez, part of the four-member delegation, said Panama’s issues are complex but that the group had “promoted communication between the different political sectors.”
