Center fielder Willie Wilson has tendinitis in his right shoulder but will probably not require surgery, a Kansas City Royals physician said.
Dr. Tom Phillips said results of tests indicated Wilson could return as early as next week.
Wilson, an 11-year veteran and 1982 American League batting champion, is hitting .192 with 11 runs batted in and one home run.
