A grant of $250,000 has been made by the Streisand Foundation to the Environmental Defense Fund to endow a Barbra Streisand Global Atmospheric Change Chair. The endowment will support the work of Michael Oppenheimer, director of the fund’s Global Atmosphere Program. In announcing the grant, Streisand, who is president of the foundation, noted her concerns with environmental issues and said: “I am convinced that with all of our participation, we can obtain real and workable solutions. Each of us must do whatever we can to help repurify and reestablish our respect for the environment.”
