For the first time, The American Film Institute will hand out honorary doctor of fine arts degrees during commencement ceremonies this afternoon on the Los Angeles campus. Writer Horton Foote, journalist Bill Moyers and director Martin Ritt will receive the honorary doctorates. In the graduating class from the institute’s Center for Advanced Film and Television Studies are 120 first-year and 34 master of fine arts students.
