Two Buena Park police officers--one driving a cruiser and the other a motorcycle--collided Thursday night while pursuing a motorcyclist suspected of reckless driving, police officials said.

The officers received only minor injuries and no medical treatment was needed, Lt. Bill Cox said. Their names were not released pending the outcome of an investigation.

David Earl Embry, 20, of San Bernardino was arrested on charges of evading an officer, Cox said.

Cox said that a brief chase began when Embry, who was suspected of reckless driving, refused to yield to a patrol car’s red lights and sirens.

The patrol officer was soon joined in the chase by a motorcycle officer coming from another direction. The two collided about 7:20 p.m. at 7th Street and Stanton Avenue in Buena Park, where the suspect had made a turn, Cox said.

Meanwhile, the suspect abandoned his motorcycle and fled on foot, Cox said. Several patrol officers converged on the area, conducted a neighborhood search and eventually found Embry hiding in an apartment complex nearby.
