Use of Special Prosecutor
I, for one, am proud of the fact that our mayor, despite his admitted error in judgment, still has a formidable base of public support including an articulate coalition of clergy from Watts and elsewhere to rise to his defense (“Black Leaders Rally Support for Bradley,” by Cathleen Decker, Metro, May 24).
But for those clergy to indiscriminately call Bradley’s detractors racist trivializes the term and renders many immune to the very serious and legitimate complaints of racism and other forms of bigotry still among us.
It’s great to be proud of one’s heritage, I know I certainly am; but let’s not cry wolf too easily lest when the beast really does show up, we’ll be ignored.
