WORLD : Saudis Discover New Oil Field
MANAMA, Bahrain — Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest oil exporter, has made a new oil find in the Khurais region southeast of the capital of Riyadh, oil industry executives said today.
Officials at the Saudi Aramco oil company, reached by telephone from Bahrain, confirmed the report but refused to give details about its potential. The company is based in the kingdom’s gulf city of Dhahran.
The new find results from a large-scale, high-technology exploration program launched by Saudi Aramco in 1986, the company officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
