Lynwood : Sheriff’s Substation Will Get New Commander

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Bert J. Cueva will become commander of the Lynwood substation on Sunday. A 28-year veteran of law enforcement, Cueva will exchange jobs with the current Lynwood commander, Capt. Stuart L. Hansell.

Hansell, who has been at Lynwood since December, 1987, will replace Cueva as commander of the Sheriff’s Advanced Training Bureau. The bureau, which is located in unincorporated county territory near Whittier, provides training for sworn and civilian personnel. The training ranges from management techniques to firearms instruction.

Hansell, 51, also has been with the department for 28 years. He is married and has four children. Cueva, 50, has been a captain since April, 1988. He is married and has three children.

The Lynwood substation provides law enforcement service to a population of more than 100,000, which includes Lynwood and the unincorporated areas of Willowbrook and East Compton.
