Norwalk : 3 Arrested, 6 Guns Seized During Raid on Gangs
Sheriff’s deputies made three arrests and seized six guns Wednesday after searching 15 residences for weapons used in a gang-related shoot-out in Norwalk last month, officials said.
The arrests of two adults and a juvenile, whose names were not released, were not directly related to the shoot-out on Pontlavoy Avenue on May 28, Deputy Dan Cox said. One adult was arrested Wednesday on an outstanding warrant, and the other for allegedly battering a deputy who was trying to search his home. The juvenile was arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property.
Cox said 175 deputies searched 12 Norwalk locations and suspected gang hangouts in Lakewood, Buena Park and Victorville.
Eleven suspected gang members--six adults and five juveniles--were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon after the May 28 shoot-out with a Pontlavoy Avenue resident, Cox said.
The shoot-out began after the suspected gang members vandalized the car of the resident, a non-gang member whose name authorities declined to release. The victim’s sister, who was wounded during the shoot-out, was treated at a local hospital and released, Deputy Mike Salvatore said. One of the suspected gang members also was wounded, Salvatore said.
