Questioning Some Parents’ Ethics

Share

How can you call Cherry and Paul Mashburn good parents? Instead of teaching their children to effectively resist drugs, they are teaching their children to say no because they might be caught. The long-term effect of this “education” is that their children will only avoid antisocial or self-destructive behavior if they might get caught.

Instead of teaching their children to be afraid of being caught, parents should be giving their children a good sense of self-worth. Then the children won’t want drugs to feel good or to feel like they belong. Only then will they be able to say “I don’t want to” because they really don’t need to.
