Major Saudi-French Missile Deal Foreseen

PARIS —
Saudi Arabia and France are near agreement on a “very large” arms deal involving French Mistral air-defense missiles, informed sources said here Friday.
The Saudi defense minister, Prince Sultan ibn Abdulaziz, has been here since Monday for talks with the French government.
The sources gave no details, but a recent report in a Paris-based Lebanese newspaper said the deal would total about $2.7 billion.
