NATION : Ex-Adm. Carr Named Nuclear Chief

WASHINGTON —
President Bush has named Kenneth Carr to succeed Lando Zech as Nuclear Regulatory Commission chairman effective July 1, the White House announced today.
Carr, 64, became an NRC commissioner after retiring as a Navy vice admiral in 1985. During his military career, he commanded the Atlantic Fleet’s submarine force and was deputy and chief of staff to the fleet’s commander in chief.
