LOCAL : Deputies Wound Man in Chase
Sheriff’s deputies shot and wounded a 24-year-old San Diego man who allegedly fired on the officers after a high-speed pursuit on El Toro Road today.
Mark Anderson was taken to Mission Community Hospital where he was in stable condition with two gunshot wounds to the body, Sheriff’s Lt. Bob Rivas said.
Anderson and another man, Shane Donald Critten, 18, of Hemet, were fleeing officers in an allegedly stolen vehicle when they collided with a parked car on Raymond Way at El Toro Road and tried to escape on foot.
Anderson and Critten, emerged from the car and allegedly fired on the officers as they approached, Rivas said.
No deputies were injured in the incident.
