Routine Stop Leads to Drug Bust in Burbank

Share

Aroutine traffic stop turned into a “pretty good” drug bust Tuesday when a Burbank patrol officer found half a pound of methamphetamine in a pickup truck, authorities said.

Officer Mark Yamaguchi pulled the truck over at 11:30 a.m. after watching it make an illegal turn from Angeleno Avenue onto 3rd Street, Sgt. Don Goldberg said.

Goldberg said Yamaguchi determined that the driver of the truck, Tiffany Ash, 25, of Tujunga, was driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and arrested her. While searching the truck with Ash’s permission, the officer found a bag containing five large chunks of methamphetamine, a stimulant commonly referred to as speed or crank, Goldberg said. The street value of the drug was estimated at $20,000.

“That’s a pretty good bust for a patrol stop,” he said.

Ash was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and was being held at the Burbank Jail in lieu of $6,000 bail. An investigation is continuing.
