NEW YORK — John Mulheren, a high-flying stock speculator with ties to jailed financier Ivan Boesky, was indicted today on securities charges, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
The U.S. attorney’s office said he was indicted on 42 counts of securities and mail fraud, and conspiracy to defraud the Internal Revenue Service and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mulheren faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and fines totaling $10.5 million.
The U.S. attorney’s office said the violations arose from Mulheren’s allegedly fraudulent business relationship with Boesky. Mulheren was general partner and chief trader of Jamie Securities, a now-defunct investment and arbitrage firm.
