Mary Hegarty, a point guard for the UCLA women’s basketball team from 1980-84, was named today as an assistant coach for the Bruins. Hegarty will replace Nash Rivera as an assistant to Billie Moore. Rivera left to become head boys’ basketball coach at Santa Ana High. Hegarty, 26, has been an assistant coach for the Humboldt State women’s team the last two seasons.
