The widow of slain Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme failed to appear to testify as a key prosecution witness in the Stockholm trial of the man accused of killing her husband in 1986. Lisbet Palme had set numerous conditions for her testimony, including that the public and defendant Christer Pettersson, 42, be excluded from the courtroom. But the court did not begin considering her demands until after she had already failed to honor a subpoena and meet a deadline for being at the courthouse to testify. The panel of judges then spent almost two hours discussing Palme’s conditions, agreeing to all except exclusion of the public. Her testimony was rescheduled for an unspecified date.
