Italian Police Launch Anti-Mafia Crackdown

LECCE, Italy — Police Wednesday made about 60 arrests and detained around 100 more suspects in a crackdown on Mafia crime in the Apulia region of southern Italy.
A spokesman said more than 500 police took part in the operation, which Italian television described as the biggest ever mounted against organized crime in the region.
