U.S. Policy in Central America
I applaud President Bush for showing his compassion for the people of China by imposing military sanctions against its government. He proclaimed that the U.S. will not support a government that kills its own people.
Therefore, I call on our President to show his compassion for the people of El Salvador who are being murdered by their “death squad” government. Why does the U.S. subsidize the government of El Salvador with over a million dollars a day?
And where is our compassion for the people of Guatemala? The government of Guatemala systematically and relentlessly tortures and murders its own people, and yet we support that government.
I appreciate our President’s compassion for the people of China. Please let us show that same compassion for the people of El Salvador and Guatemala.
