Envoy to Saudis Chosen

WASHINGTON — President Bush has announced that he will nominate Charles W. Freeman Jr., a Foreign Service officer who served as a diplomat in China and Thailand, as U.S. ambassador to Saudi Arabia. Since 1986, Freeman has been principal deputy assistant secretary of state for African affairs.
