Under the Shade of a Heritage Tree
Officials of the Orange County Department of Harbors, Beaches and Parks on Friday morning dedicated an 850-year-old oak tree on the playground of Trabuco Elementary School.
Most of the school’s 410 students attended the brief dedication ceremony, which took place under the coastal live oak tree, which forms a shady canopy for the school’s play yard.
Preservation of the county’s oak tree population, which many believe is threatened by rapid development in the area, was the theme of the ceremony.
