Beat Breu regained the overall lead in the Tour of Switzerland by winning the road cycling race’s sixth stage, a 4.7-mile uphill time trial to Heitersberg, Switzerland.

Earlier in the day, West Germany’s Remig Stumpf was a surprise winner in a mass arrival at the finish of the fifth stage, a 49-mile ride from Bad Zurzach to Baden.

Breu, a Swiss, was eight seconds ahead ahead of countryman Thomas Wegmueller in the subsequent race over a 685-foot vertical rise. Breu, with a total time of 20 hours 8 minutes 49 seconds, reclaimed the overall leader’s yellow jersey from Stephan Joho of Switzerland, who led for two days.
