Irish Republican Army guerrillas broke into a British army barracks in Osnabrueck, West Germany, and set off a bomb before escaping, West German officials said. No one was injured, but the building was severely damaged. The West German federal prosecutor’s office said two guerrillas stole into the barracks at night, carrying five bombs packed with a total of 170 pounds of plastic Semtex explosive, but were frightened off before they had time to finish activating the fuses in four of the five bombs.
