Westminster’s Grebe and Klesko Sign With Braves

Pitcher Brett Grebe and first baseman Ryan Klesko of Westminster High School have signed contracts with the Atlanta Braves and will report this week to the club’s rookie team, Bradenton (Fla.) of the Gulf Coast League, scout Dean Jongewaard said.

Klesko, drafted in the seventh round, set seven school records in his three-year varsity career, including career hits (106), doubles (23), home runs (16) runs scored (65) and RBIs (65). He had signed a national letter of intent with Arizona State.

Grebe, drafted in the ninth round, had a 9-4 record with a 1.76 earned-run average and struck out 98 batters in 83 1/3 innings. He was 13-9 in two seasons.
