Fair Crowds Can Keep Cool Over Weekend
Sun worshipers may find the weather a bit drab, but the partly cloudy skies and mild temperatures should make for a comfortable weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Visitors to the Del Mar Fair will be nice and cool, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures in the upper 60s.
“It should be a pleasant weekend,” forecaster Wilbur Shigehara said. “It’s not good beach weather, there won’t be lots of sunshine . . . but it will be nice and cool.”
A low-pressure system hovering over Oregon--uncommon for this time of year--is bringing back the night and morning low clouds after this week’s heat wave, Shigehara said.
“Mother Nature has her clock goofed up,” he said. “It’s strange to have low pressure over the West in June. Somehow, her calculations are all wrong. Low pressure usually happens in April. It’s very unusual in June.”
The cloud coverage is expected to burn off in the inland areas by the afternoon. The coastal sections will likely remain partly cloudy most of the day.
The temperatures are slightly below normal for late June. The usual high at Lindbergh Field this time of the year is 72. High of 69 to 70 are anticipated for this weekend.
