From Times staff and wire service reports
LAS VEGAS —
A United Airlines Boeing 727 jet on a flight from San Diego to Los Angeles was diverted to Las Vegas this morning when the aircraft experienced hydraulic failure, a spokeswoman said.
The plane, carrying 73 passengers and crew members, landed safely at McCarran International Airport at 8:16 a.m., a McCarran spokeswoman said. She said the aircraft was diverted to McCarran because of fog and haze at Los Angeles International Airport. The pilot reported loss of nose wheel steering capability on the aircraft.
