Women and Backers of Uno Scuffle Over His Geisha-Mistress
A scuffle broke out today between supporters of Prime Minister Sosuke Uno and women who say he should resign because of allegations he kept a geisha as a mistress, Japan’s Kyodo News Service reported.
Uno was speaking at a campaign rally for a candidate running for the Tokyo Assembly when the confrontation occurred, the agency said.
Several members of the governing Liberal Democratic Party shouted insults at women who carried placards saying, “A prime minister who buys sex is a national disgrace” and “We don’t need a prostitution premier.” Kyodo quoted one of the women as saying a party member shoved a Japanese flag at her after several placards were pulled down.
