Afghanistan will allow a U.S. diplomat to travel to Kabul to seek the release of a captured American photojournalist. A government spokesman said a visa request for a consular officer at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi has been approved at the State Department’s request. The diplomat is to meet with officials and see Tony O’Brien, a news photographer for Time-Life Inc. Government troops captured O’Brien with Muslim rebels near the capital earlier this month. He was accused of entering Afghanistan illegally.
