Firms Join on Program to Utilize Waste as Fuel
HOUSTON — Browning-Ferris Industries Inc., Cadence Chemical Resources Inc. and Southdown Inc. announced that they have agreed to create an integrated program to utilize waste as fuel.
Under the program, a variety of solid and liquid hazardous wastes will be processed into fuel by a subsidiary of Browning-Ferris using Cadence technology for Southdown’s cement manufacturing kilns.
Test data and operating experience confirm that the effective combustions of these hazardous wastes in cement kilns exceeds the efficiency achieved by hazardous waste incinerations, the announcement said.
