Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan was released from a hospital this morning after being treated overnight for heat exhaustion, a Fed spokesman reported.

Greenspan, 63, was rushed to George Washington University Hospital Monday night when he became ill with what originally was suspected of being a heart ailment, spokesman Joseph R. Coyne said.

The Fed chairman later was determined as suffering from heat exhaustion and spent the night in the hospital. Greenspan was expected to be in his office later today.
