Remnants of Tropical Storm Allison moved into eastern Texas and western Louisiana, still dumping heavy rain and triggering thunderstorms after hitting the Houston area with more than 10 inches of rain. At least one fatality--a traffic death in the Beaumont area--was blamed on the storm, which was downgraded to a tropical depression in the morning. In the Beaumont area, about 85 miles east of Houston, flash flood warnings were posted for Orange, Jasper and Newton counties. In southwestern Louisiana, Calcasieu and Cameron parishes were under flood warnings and Louisiana State Police reported a tornado at Hackberry that damaged roofs and destroyed a mobile home.
