6-Day Fiesta to Feature Rock ‘n’ Fireworks

The Orange County Fiesta, an annual carnival of edibles, rides and rock ‘n’ roll, starts today with rock oldies and culminates on Tuesday, the Fourth of July, with what is being billed as Orange County’s largest free fireworks display.

The fiesta will run each day from 5 p.m. to late in the evening at Mile Square Park, Brookhurst Street and Heil Avenue in Fountain Valley.

Musical highlights include shows by Paul Revere & the Raiders, below, tonight at 7 and 10 p.m., and a show Tuesday at 5 p.m. featuring the Coasters and Bobby Freeman, top right. The Altar Boys, above, a Christian rock band from Orange County, play Saturday at 8 p.m., along with Randy Stonehill, left. Zola Taylor, below right, will appear with the Platters on Tuesday.

A Battle of the Bands will rage all day Friday and Monday. Saturday’s schedule includes a state championship rib cook-off, and Sunday’s includes a chili cook-off. The fireworks show begins at 9 p. m. Tuesday. Admission each day is $3 ($1 for children ages 6 through 10, free for other children. Information: (714) 528-1258.
