Fighter Pilot Ejects Safely

HOWARD, Kan. — The pilot of a Kansas Air National Guard F-16 ejected safely shortly before the fighter jet crashed Wednesday in southeastern Kansas, authorities said. A spokesman for McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita identified the pilot as Lt. Col. Vincent Shiban, 40.
