Alpharel announced that it received a $1.7-million contract from Apple Computer for expansion of a system that converts documents into images that can be stored electronically.

Alpharel, which is based in Camarillo, said it would help link Macintosh computers in a worldwide network of Apple engineering and manufacturing facilities. Alpharel designed and set up that network as part of an earlier $1-million contract.

Alpharel designs, markets, installs and maintains software systems that store and recall documents electronically.
