Transpac Fleet Continues Its Fast Pace

Share

The Transpac fleet continued its 200-miles-a-day runs Monday as the yachts headed on a southerly course into the northeast trade winds, a favored slant on the 2,225-mile run to Honolulu.

Leaders were reporting sporadic rains, but the winds were still holding at 16 to 20 knots. At the roll call Monday, the top 10 boats in Class A were past the 700-mile mark. Sailing in sight of each other were the front-runners, Taxi Dancer and Mongoose, reporting 773 and 772 miles, respectively. Also sailing virtually bow to bow were Evolution and Chance at 738 miles.
