Italy Curbing Speed

ROME —
Italy clamped stricter speed limits on roads and highways starting at midnight Friday in an attempt to reduce accidents in peak summer holiday traffic. The limits, of 68 m.p.h. on highways and 56 m.p.h. on other main roads, will apply until Sept. 3.
