The Cleveland Crunch expansion team selected a 24-year-old heart transplant recipient, Simon Keith, as the top pick in the first round of the Major Indoor Soccer League’s college draft.

Keith, of Victoria, Canada, was a forward for Nevada Las Vegas and has been playing in the Canadian Soccer League for the Victoria Vistas. He received a heart transplant in 1987 from a 17-year-old English soccer player who died of a cerebral brain clot during a match.
