International Paper Co.: The Purchase, N.Y., paper products manufacturer said second-quarter earnings rose 22% to $229 million over last year. Sales climbed to $3 billion, up 25%. The firm said pulp prices increased again during the quarter while its liner board and bleached board mills ran at capacity to meet continued strong demand, and exports of pulp, bleached board and liner board were above year-ago levels.
