WORLD : Crazed French Farmer Kills 15 : French Farmer Goes on Rampage, Kills Mother, Sister and 13 Others

PARIS — A crazed farmer armed with a rifle killed 15 people, including his mother and sister, in a wild rampage through a village in eastern France today, police said.
Christian Dornier, 32, suffering from what police called a fit of madness, shot a veterinary surgeon visiting the family farm before killing his mother and his newly married sister and wounding his father.
He then jumped into a car and drove through the streets of his village, firing indiscriminately at passers-by. Eyewitnesses speaking on French radio said three small children strolling in the streets of Luxiol were killed and a man was shot dead inside his kitchen when Dornier opened fire.
Dornier himself was seriously injured in a gun battle with paramilitary gendarmes, but police said his life was not in danger.
Neighbors said the farmer had been suffering from depression.
